Drama Program

Drama Program at Kesher Newton

Every Spring, Kesher offers a drama chug lead by local playwright and theatre artist Cassie M. Seinuk. The Kesher musical (called "machazemer") is a Hebrew/English production of a popular musical. The program is offered to first through fifth grader students, and focuses on Hebrew language as well as acting, singing, and dancing. Students are also offered the opportunity to learn set design, create costumes, and learn basic fight-choreography from visiting guest artists. In previous years the Kesher Machazemer has featured over 80 students.

Hebrew-English Script

Following the Kesher proficiency system the Kesher Machazemer is performed mostly in Hebrew, giving the students an opportunity to use the words they have learned in their Hebrew classes in a practical way. Learning the songs in Hebrew encourages language learning and the ability to recall words later.

The cast of Joseph will forever remember how to talk about dreaming in Hebrew. And the Peter Pan cast remembers the phrase "I won't grow up."
